Canmec offers design, manufacturing, installation, repair/retrofitting and construction services to the industrial sector. Canmec’s expertise can meet all your needs by proposing a complete range of solutions that extends from mechanical component manufacturing and machining to the delivery of large-scale projects.

While Canmec specializes in providing and installing welded components and equipment for several sectors such as: energy, aluminum, mining, pulp and paper and industrial construction, the company also works on piping, boiler works, mechanics and steel structure assembly projects. Canmec even goes beyond the provision and installation of equipment by serving as a general contractor on some projects.

Canmec has seen constant growth in its operations since it was established in 1988 and currently employs over 500 employees. Its engineers, technicians, machinists and welders pool their skills to offer high quality products and services that are delivered on time.

Located in Saguenay, Québec, the Canmec production plants are situated close to a deep-water port (Grande Anse Port), offering the opportunity to participate in important international projects. The city of Saguenay boasts an airport (Bagotville) as well as a road and railway network that connects to large North American industrial centres.

Our innovations

ESW Process

Canmec developed the ElectroSlag Welding (ESW) process which can be applied to aluminum alloys. This process, which is applied to large joint surfaces, significantly increases joint conductivity and considerably reduces welding time: for a given surface, one joint produced with the ESW process can be turned out in approximately 16 MINUTES instead of the 6- to 8-hour conventional plate method. What is more, several joints can be produced simultaneously. This process also stands out because it can be used in locations with high magnetic fields.

FARO –  A  Laser Tracker ION

We use the FARO, a Laser Tracker ION, an extremely precise portable machine, that can manufacture products and optimize processes by providing measures quickly, easily and with a level of precision that is unmatched.
