Mid-July – CANMEC Parking lots

Our Hot-dog Party is held on a voluntary contribution basis. Its purpose is to collect money for the SAC-À-DONS campaign. Funds from the campaign serve to purchase bags filled with school supplies for our local youth in difficulty who are supported by CIUSSS health and social services. This event gives them a strong start in the new school year ahead.

June –Nikitoutagan Place – Jonquière

The Dragon Boat Festival is a friendly competition of dugout canoes that takes place in downtown Jonquière on the beautiful Rivière-aux-Sables waterway. Teams are composed of 20 people and everything is included: safety vests, oars and training. No experience required! The festival is more of a big party than a competition and serves to raise funds for the Fondation Arianne. In its four editions, over $50,000 has been given to help local families.

From October to December

Operation Santa Claus gives you the opportunity to be Santa Claus for an underprivileged child identified by the Department of youth protection (DPJ). You receive a letter that a child has written to Santa Claus asking what he or she would like for Christmas. Most of the children under the wing of Operation Santa Claus would not receive a gift without the support of this campaign because many of them live in very poor families that are oftentimes greatly disorganized or some have simply been abandoned. You accept to buy one of the gifts asked for by the child valued between $35 and $50. You wrap the gift and add a card addressed to the child and signed ‘From Santa Claus’. You place the gift under the CANMEC Christmas tree and we take care of having it delivered to the child by our team of (volunteer) elves.
