Mathieu Lessard-Labrecque has been a welder-assembler at the Canmec La Baie division since November 2011.For several years now, Mathieu practices a hobby that has become his passion: he is a tinkerer .
When he is not wearing his everyday welder-assembler cap, Mathieu loves to design, build, adjust, repair and assemble a wide range of metal parts, tools, attachments and products. Using simple to complex mechanics, his creations are designed solely by hand, without the use of machines.
Here are a few of his designs:
Photo 1: A tricycle with a gasoline-fuelled engine
Photo 2: A side-car recycled from his old bath tub
Photo 3: A jib crane similar to those found at Canmec – Scale model
Photo 4: A motor-powered bicycle
Photo 5: A flail mower
Photo 7: A Handmade V8 air motor – Built in 7 months
Photo 8: A Chopper style motorcycle – Featuring a 440 Kawasaki engine
From one project to another, and design after design, all we can say is that he is ingenious and versatile and that his creations and crafty ideas are an inspiration to everyone.
