Employed at CANMEC as a design and drafting technician since 2010 (8 years now), Raphaël Bernier is an outdoorsman who has developed a passion for fly-fishing just like his father.
Since salmon do not feed in rivers, the challenge for fly-fishers is to use a fly to attract its attention and make it ‘take the bait’ in order to get rid of this irritant. The particular aspect of recreational fishing is that fish measuring 63 cm (25 in) or more must be released in order to ensure the viability of the species. In the absence of a hearty meal, the fisherman is only left with a picture of the salmon and wonderful memories.
Raphaël initiated several friends to this activity and serves as a volunteer guide during Women’s Day at the Petit-Saguenay River. His love of fly-fishing has helped him expand his network of friends and visit several regions across Quebec.
